Replacing a section of an array with other values
instead of looping through it assigning one element
at a time.

Often, I also used the trick of declaring an
array that was actually a renaming of a slice
from another array.  The new name can be used
on either side of an assignment.

I have also often used a slice as an actual
for an out-mode parameter.
