Well, I also use a lot Ada, but to build GCC/GNAT, GDB, Emacs, CVS (pserver), gpg, AWS, GLADE, AdaSockets, OpenSSL, OpenSSH, GDBM... you really need to have a UNIX like environment. Or you need to port the software to avoid using GNU/configure, GNU/automake or GNU/autoconf tools or whatever UNIX oriented part that just does not work on Windows.
