It's not as if they're doing nothing. There is nothing stopping Ada from having virtual machines, sandboxes, bytecode verification, etc, either. If they really wanted to do so. Also it is possible to compile Java code direct to machine code (gcj). The issue of choice of language has nothing to do with if you want or don't want these technologies. -- Brian May
