If you are, the general answer is: you don't need to use Win32, Win32.Winnt, or Win32.Winbase. By sticking with the tasking built into the language, you make your program more portable. I successfully moved a 160K SLOC multi-tasking application from Windows NT to Linux in a couple of hours. I had to make changes in the area of TCP/IP communications, no changes required to tasking.
