I've seen it often enough in 30 years in this business, and it generally leads to an unsuccessful business outcome because most of us are not all that much smarter than each other, and because the same ideas tend to arise all over the globe around the same time. IP is a very illusive and elusive competitive advantage (not to mention one of the most risky). Or do they figure they deserve free beer in their supply chain so they can charge Champagne prices to their own customers? I just don't get the mindset.
