But Ada compilers are allowed to build-in-place most function results, and I'd guess that most do take advantage of that (it can matter a lot to performance). (Not yet Janus/Ada, unfortunately, doing that is near the top of the development list - but there are approximately 100 items near the top of that list. :-) Randy.
