DoD development effort is considering use of OOA and OOD techniques. They are planning to use Ada as a programming language. The characteristics of the system are: Unix workstation based many communication interfaces, but not extreme volume emphasis on user interface, graphics, maps tracking and multi-sensor correlation (again, not extreme volume) DoD 2167A documentation The development cycle is relatively short (1993 operational system) given the appropriate degree of testing, etc. My personal opinion is that OOA methods may not be mature enough yet, but that may be due to ignorance. Could some of you who have successfully used OOA and OOD respond (by mail) with experiences (good and bad), and suggestions for methods, tools, and training. Thanks in advance, Mark Schmid mes@aplpy.jhuapl.edu
