Even my Mac 8600 is a better X server than my Pentium II. For programming, Applescript comes in the box and MPW is free. Of course, my favorite CLI for Ada 95 is under Tenon's excellent MachTen or CodeBuilder products. Without question, the Mac file system is a tad slow for UNIX style programming.
