You don't notice when you benefit from it (you get to buy a ticket and fly even though the plane was sold out), but for sure you notice when it goes against you (you aren't allowed on the plane because everyone else turned up too). With a computer you also have backing store (swap), which means that when the plane starts getting full, sleeping passengers are quietly shifted to a donkey cart :) Ciao, Duncan.
