You need to move the "+" to a place where both base.derv1.rec1 and base.derv2.rec2 are visible. That could be another package base.derv3. Or a child of one of the packages. Or you may be able to move the declarations of rec1 and rec2 to base.ads. This will be fixed in Ada 2005, via a "limited with" clause.
