There is hope. An example of a very successful resurrection has occurred during the last few years. SGML, Standard Generalized Markup Language, illustrates how the fortunes of a technology can change from approaching legacy status to market leader. XML evolved from SGML. The change in name and improvement in technology was sufficient for this very successful resurrection. SPARK provides a similar solution for Ada. Actually, the change for Ada is much less than that required for SGML. I believe that a very significant part of SPARK technology is to be inserted into Ada'0Y and it should be possible with Pragma Restrictions to subset Ada'0Y to SPARK. It would then be allowable to refer to the language as Ada.SPARK. new name + new technology = new game Bob Robert C. Leif, Ph.D. Email rleif@rleif.com
