The argument about lawyers cuts both ways. A good lawyer could, just as well, count on the distrust of big business by the jury. Obviously, there is no certitude in jury and even judicial decisions. However, a reasonable deterrent need not be 100 percent reliable to have a positive effect. The problem is that such testimony is highly technical. Such a technical level of information is easily distorted by a clever lawyer who relies upon the confusion of the judge and jury.
