There really is one single point of exit - at the point of call. function "=" (L, R : T) return Boolean is Result : Boolean; begin Seize (Mutex); Result := Do_Equality (L, R); Release (Mutex); return Result; end; Now you can terminate the loop (inside Do_Equality now) as early and often as you want, without any maintenance penalty.
