Santa Rosa is North of San Francisco. The Santa Rosa area is now at the Southern end of the Sonoma wine region. In 1908 the area had more breweries than wineries. Anyway... My grandfather told of how his house caught fire because a large case of strike-anywhere matches fell off the shelf of a store up the road and exploded, causing the destruction of several dozen buildings including my grandfather's house.
