GPS uses gnatmake (or gprbuild) to do the actual build, so you should be able to run the build just as well from the command line, which will make it easier to see what's going wrong. And I don't recognise "GNAT GPS 5.0" (or "5.3"). Do you mean GNAT GPL 2013/2014? (GPS comes as part of the compiler bundle from libre.adacore.com now). Or is this in a Debian package?
