At the front of the posting here I said "GCC 7.1.0 for macOS El Capitan and Sierra"! but I see I didn't say that at sf.net; will correct that ASAP. My main machine runs Sierra, but I've kept the older one with the cracked glass running El Capitan. I found that if I build the compiler (more specifically the RTS, I think) on Sierra, using it on ElC results in lots of link-time warnings about "built for a later release of the operating system"; so I built on ElC and verified on Sierra. I'm afraid I don't have a list of benefits! There are a couple of regressions from 6.1.0[1,2] but no other problems I'm aware of.
