Sorry. :-) My response also came across as a lot more terse than it normally would because I wrote it as I was heading out the door. Sorry once again. While Farnell (and other distributors) sell to the high end market, they also sell a _lot_ of low cost products to the hobbyist and other users. The manufacturers of those products generally make sure that the end user can get access to a C compiler for those products free of charge. The discussions we have been having recently include the reasons why we cannot get Ada into the hands of more users and it seems that embedded systems are _exactly_ the kind of area Ada is strong at. Ideally, we also need to try to get people to try Ada while they are still learning or doing hobbyist work and not waiting until the workplace to try to get them to use Ada. Unfortunately, given the free availability of the C compilers you are not going to get people using Ada in those situations if they have to pay for it.
