While that might not work, it is generally true that if it compiles on THIS box 
then it will certainly build on THAT box. So moving the source from the dev box 
to the target box and building on the target box will work, and obviate any 
perceived disadvantages of maintaining a dev system the same as the target 
(presuming you can spare the processing power for the build once in a while).
