Totally irrelevant. As I just posted what matters is whether or not Sqrt(x) is declared in a pure library unit. In the case of the standard Sqrt, the standard also says: pragma Pure(Generic_Elementary_Functions); So the compiler is free to eliminate calls to Sqrt if possible. -- Robert I.
