(Maybe it >should be depricated?) There are many cases where a variable length string has an upper bound - Person Name in a database, a file name in Windows, a variable name in source code - and many are being processed so the efficiency of Bounded_String is preferable. There are also cases where input comes from the outside world and allowing an Unbounded_String could be fatal. For instance, my HTTP package uses bounded strings for alternate locations (eg 301s) and content-type (eg text/html). To use unbounded strings would mean the first web page visited that had a humongous value for either of those, by accident or design, would cause a Storage_Error, or unacceptable page thrashing. ====================================================================== "The well off generally feel that the system that made them well off is not in need of substantial reform."
