As someone who is responsible for a library, I not sure we disagree. Certainly when one gets to the point of deciding on a representation, one should implement one's choice in a reusable manner if possible, or reuse an existing library; often the existence of a library will be an important factor in choosing a representation. Where we may disagree is that I don't think one should begin a project such as this by choosing a representation. -- Jeff Carter "I wave my private parts at your aunties."
