BTW Debian still hasn't turned it on and since you are calling for turning off "extensive completion *presets* in fresh installations" you could just use a distro where it is turned off (or live with the necessity that you have to tune fresh installation to your taste, since I doubt that there are enough distributions to meet everyones taste out of the box, with all the presets, that is).
