Nycum, Esq., the leading international international expert on software law and a Senior Partner at Baker & McKenzie in Palo Alto, will discuss the legal ramifications of software reuse. This talk will address intellectual property issues from the stand- point of a person who is making use of software whose origons are unknown or only partially known. Is the software copyrighted? Is its algorithm patented? Is it being kept under trade secret? Is its mame trademarked? What are my problems if I redistribute the soft- ware, or make use of it as part of my own software product? What is the difference if it came from the U.S. government? Note that some TRI-Ada printed programs placed this session on Wednesday afternoon. That has been changed, and Thursday morning, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon, is the correct time. Ms. Nycum will be introduced by Ralph Crafts of the Ada Software Alliance.
