The trouble is of course that most university CS professors know zilch about programming, and manage to pass on their lack of knowledge very effectively to their students. Please note I said "most", not all. I know of several exceptions, in fact the Ada community tends to have quite a few university folks around who *do* know how to program (this of course is not a coincidence, those who know zilch about programming are much less likely to understand the advantages of Ada :-)
