Samuel in "wild guess" mode guess incorrectly that
"The parent unit should compile (but not link).  Might your gnat set-up
be automatically trying to link?  (Just a wild guess.)"

The issue as I trust was clear from my previous post is that GNAT will
only generate code if the entire subtree of subunits is present. However,
individual units can be compiled in the RM sense (i.e. fully checked for
semantic correctness) by using the -gnatc switch.
