Wrong advice, Ada 95 DOES spport COBOL-style pictures, see the information systems annex. I am not sure what "pictured I/O" is (COBOL certainly does not have it! But both COBOL and Ada 95 provide facilities for the use of pictures to edit alphanumeric data (this data can certainly be output after it is edited :-)
