Actually the source of this incorrect viewpoint often stems from lack of familiarity with C++ (you can sort of guess this from anyone who writes C/C++ as though it were one language). It is remarkable how many people think they know C++ becaus they program in it, and yet they are unaware of exceptions, namespaces and the standard template library. And try seeing how many C++ programmers really understand the overloading semantics in C++. I have seen so-called "C++" programs that were litte more than C programs with C++ style comments :-)
