That is the main question about parallel hierarchies: if you derive or constrain one type in the cloud, what happens with other types? Does this produce new types, related or unrelated, constrained or not. The typical case is slice, you constrain index and get a constrained subtype of the array. But if you constrain the multi-dimensional index of a matrix by fixing one component of you get a new type: submatrix. You need a formalism describing propagation of constrants, conditions, parent-child relationships across the cloud of types. -- Regards, Dmitry A. Kazakov http://www.dmitry-kazakov.de
