GNU/Linux together with additional software has become an option for individuals, for sellers, for companies, and for organisations. It does seem rewarding to use the system in various settings. And this is not just an immediate consequence of the technical merits of old Unix, i.e. a consequence of technical superiority or inferiority. Neither is it just a consequence of the existence of some Linux lobby. People find it useful, there are peer groups, there is support at all levels, it is visible at big companies.
