Speaking of McDonald's, I remember reading several years ago that when the first McDonald's "restaurants" were built in Russia, many Russians assumed that the food being served was considered fine American cuisine. Perhaps one of you Russians out there can tell me if that is true. Perhaps the French think that too, which would explain their attitude toward us. Just to set the record straight, I am an American, and I hope I never find out how hungry I would have to be to actually *want* to eat at McDonald's. My seven-year-old boy loves it though, of course. There's no accounting for the taste. Come to think of it, I probably did too when I was seven years old.
