It's a discussion group. I like to dicuss. Since I'm quite good at C++, one of the things I do is correct misstatements about that language. Another thing I like to do is to point out places where Ada afficionados have, in my opinion, too high an opinion of themselves or their language. > Why are you spending your efforts and your time for those > (apparently foreign to you) purposes, without any chances > for success? For one, because it's fun. Consider it a light form of trolling if you like. I don't consider it real trolling because I do believe the things I write, even when I know that it will tick off some newsgroup members. And I'm a member of SigADA, so I have at least slight credentials to be here. I suppose future discussions will be less intense since some folks here appear to have decided to add me to their kill file :-) > Are you the same Hyman Rosen Yep, that's me. It came from a C++ newsgroup posting that he noticed. > Don't you think that my point about the role of expectations > (within the FAQ) nicely aligns with that epigraph? So, what > makes you unhappy and even (apparently) angry? That epigraph is just a funny tautology. In the Ariane 5 case, the discussion is about who had the expectations, whether they were justified, and where the responsibility lies for having been wrong. I'm not especially unhappy or angry - it's just a usenet discussion.
