There have been untold number of other languages invented that have reached all sorts of levels of popularity using syntax other than that of C. People can and will adjust to a new syntax. Most of the objections I've heard from people about Ada never bring up syntax. They object to things like lack of leverage, lack of programmers, "complicated" features (tasks, generics, etc...), "inefficiency", "design by committee", etc. etc. etc. but almost *never* do I hear "The syntax really sucks so I can't use it." It would be *very* costly and disruptive to try to adjust Ada's syntax to look more like that of C's. It would be of *very* dubious value to do so.
