Maybe there doesn't need to be a DBMS built in Ada, but it might be nice to
present a "conventional" answer for database work from Ada. IOW, if an
interface to one or more DBMS's is adopted as the "convention" and it ships
with compilers (and maybe an open source DBMS so it all just works right out
of the box) and books get written on how to use Ada with its "conventional"
interface to a database, all that starts to conspire to present the
developer with a really big leverage package. Can C++ interface to a dbms?
Sure. Does your average C++ compiler come with a "standard" interface to a
DBMS and a working open source DBMS so you can just start programming a
database out of the box? No? Boy that sounds like an opportunity to create
some product distinction and offer lots of leverage to the developer to me!
