Especially software products. You produce something initially which might become your "cash cow", but you know eventually the market for it is going to dry up. Hence you have to start developing new products to take its place. Sooner or later, the GNAT compiler will reach a point where nobody will want to buy suport for it. That's just life. In the mean time, if you want to be in business after that happens, you've got to develop new products like GtkAda to take its place. Is GtkAda a big enough deal to generate enough paying support? Possibly, but it never hurts to have some additional irons in the fire.
