You might have a few hobyists who would tinker with it and put changes back into the tree, but would you see any really serious work done on it? What if a new language revision came out? What if new target hardware comes about? On the one hand, sure, GNAT is around so long as there is a source tree somewhere that folks can download from. On the other hand, lack of paying customers looking for support means - if not "death" - at least a "vegitative state" as a project.
