Is it possible to have a generic written in one language and instantiated in another language? At least the both languages must agree on the semantics of genericity. I think this is a current area of research inside one of the MS dotnet research teams. An implementation of Ada on top of the current CLR might be interesting as a reference for a language that has a long tradition wrt genericty. Ada could be influential on .NET if it comes at the right time. And of course it would be very interesting to see how well Ada could fit into this whole cross-language interoperability (cross language object system, exceptions etc.) story.
