I used AdaSockets with some modifications. Unfortunately the version of AdaSockets on Linux available at that time was not identical to the Windows version at least in the specifications. Perhaps such issues have been ironed out now. I will be happy to send my copy of "netmon" which can ping a list of host names in the same invocation if you like.
