But as long as the PL/I language has DECLARE entry ENTRY (attributes, attributes....), the language cannot be regarded as actually supporting such a thing, even if, per accidens, an individual compiler does. To turn it the other way, the most important Ada compiler (GNAT) does not have anything resembling the "repository" envisioned in the Ada LRM. But it achieves the appearance of one, as does (in its way) Java, because the Ada and Java language definitions wouldn't work otherwise. -- John W.
