VCOE is funded by DARPA, which for some reason didn't feel like supporting the DoD's reuse efforts at ASSET and DSRO, and thought it would be a good idea to spend more tax dollars creating another DoD reuse center. I hope marketing isn't one of the agenda items, since these highly trained and competent staffers didn't even feel it necessary to announce the workshop on comp.lang.ada, comp.software-eng, comp.object, comp.sw-component, or comp.more-ways-to-waste-tax-dollars. Hopefully another agenda item won't be customer support, since there is nothing more ridiculous for consumers than having to shop at three different stores for efforts that aren't supposed to be competing with each other. Other things probably not on the agenda are: how to do reuse efficiently with CD-ROMs, how to preserve your job by forcing people ask your permission to use repository components, and why socialism is a better way to effect software reuse than capitalism. If nothing else, at least the Virginia doughnuts will be good. Greg -- ************************************************************************** Greg Aharonian Source Translation & Optimiztion P.O.
