I've often found trouble when doing complicated or unusual things with the
language with any compiler. Perhaps what you are seeing is just a combination of
the fact that, as Robert pointed out, Controlled is tricky to implement
properly, and the fact that as designed it isn't as useful (and therefore as
exercised in compilers) as it could be.
