I think the Ariane V mishap has created a lot of misunderstanding regarding Ada. It did not help that some people, in an effort to promote alternative language options, published incorrect explanations of what happened, and false hopes about what could have been done differently. As of now, Ariane V seems to be doing just fine. Anyone know differently? People making engineering decisions need to understand the difference between using the right toolset correctly, versus using the wrong toolset. For this kind of project, Ada is likely to be the right language tool, but we continue to see people making decisions in favor of inferior languages such as C++. I don't know what idiot decided to use C++ instead of Ada on JSF. That was a decision of monumental stupidity. I guess we have to put up with this kind of thing when ignorance is so widespread about the options.
