List-Id: This is just a note to post a couple of issues related to the use of the X Window System with Ada. (1) There is a separate mailing list for discussion of the topic maintained by the MIT X Consortium. Send requests to be added to the list to x-ada-request@expo.lcs.mit.edu. To post to the list send to x-ada@expo.lcs.mit.edu. We'd like to get some more traffic on the list, so if you have questions or experiences about Ada and X - that's the place to go! (2) One of the issues discussed at the BOF session held at the recent annual X Technical Conference was the need to get more publicity and public knowledge on X and Ada. Towards that end I was thinking about organizing a session in the Practical Experiences Track at this year's TRI-Ada (in October). I was thinking about a quick, 5 or 10 minute introduction to the X Window System, then short talks by people with Ada bindings/implementations of interfaces to X (Rational, the STARS work, TAE, ???) and maybe some short presentations by someone who's done or currently doing a program that uses X for its graphics interface. If anyone has any suggestions or wants to volunteer for a talk, please let me know via e-mail. I'll post a summary of the results. Remember that the deadline for submission to the TRI-Ada folks is March 1, so don't delay getting any responses to me before then. (3) Mark Nelson (SAIC) posted a brief summary of the X Technical Conference to the x-ada list last week. I will plan to post a more detailed write-up from my notes of the X and Ada BOF session in a week or so to give interested folks a chance to subscribe first ;-) -- Stu Lewin Lockheed Sanders, Inc.
