Why not? A language may be optimized for "true object-oriented progarmming" whatever that turns out to be, but I don't see why Ada is inappropriate for the types of systems you mention. I've heard this critisism made of Ada before and have not found anyone willing to substantiate it with specific features or lack thereof.
