My own humble contributions:

PL/I: You code the program wrong, but PL/I finds a way to make any
program you write legal, so you end up kicking yourself in the gun.

Ada 9X: You write a proposal for how to implement shooting yourself in
the foot.  The proposal is then made available for public comment.  An
interminable public discussion takes place over what is the best
syntax for shooting yourself in the foot.
