You're probably right. The lecture notes didn't mention Fortran 66 - only IV and as I recall, the names Flair and George II came into it. One was the compiler I think. The machine (which I never saw as it resided at a different campus about 15 miles away) that we learnt on was an ICL of about 1972 vintage or earlier. All our programming was done on punch-cards so if you made a mistake, you had to wait a day or two to find out. Imagine the luxury when we got to use the Electrical Engineering dept's Nova with Basic and an ASR33 terminal! How times have changed! Alan
