All too often some (pointy haired) bosses have been busy reading industry journals and pick up on buzzwords and think "this is the direction to go in" because everybody is writing about it. Trade journals can suffer from the same GIGO phenomenon as computers: Garbage In, Gospel Out. We used to have an "insider" expression taken from a Dilbert commic: "Mauve has more RAM..." to indicate when a manager was speaking techno-babel. It had to do with Dilbert testing to see if the PHB knew what he was talking about when he wanted to have Dilbert acquire a new relational database. Dilbert asks what color it should be. The answer was mauve because "Mauve has more RAM". The sad thing about Dilbert is that Scott Adams is *not* making this stuff up.
