It is also not quite so cryptic in its syntax. Generally, there isn't really a whole lot of difference between the two languages in some technological sense - they both provide about the same level of features and have roughly the same kinds of strengths/weaknesses. Of the two, I think I'd prefer to program in Jovial, so a step from C to Jovial might be a marginal improvement. But that's just my own preference without any science behind it.
