Whatsmore, he thinks that specifying an egrep-inspired pattern string for matching is a better way than the sublanguage for pattern matching found in the other implementations of SETL. (The sublanguage looks like inspired by many years of experience with pattern matching in SNOBOL4 and successors. You might easily add a few guesses as to who did this and maybe why.) Georg
