Message-ID: <9302111110.AA00472@ajpo.sei.cmu.edu> List-Id: Bob Munck writes, in part: It seems fairly certain to me that Ada will be around long after IBM is gone. They just made a "mjor" product announcement of new huge, raised-floor, special-room _mainframes_. Jeez! -------- Don't put down mainframes for they are the brassboards of the next decades desktop computers. I for one appreciate the money that the IBM stockholders are willing to put their money into developing these brassboards. My wife who owns some IBM stock is not so pleased :-) p.s. The USA Today reported that Next is selling its hardware product to Canon and will try to become a significant software company. Perhaps their understanding of the hardware will help them to develop better software. Does anyone else see a pattern here? LMI Lisp Machines Inc. Rational Machines Inc. correct me if this wasn't the 1st name of Rational Next who's next? no pun intended sam harbaugh ---
