The only laguage I can think of other than Ada and C which has a active compiler support is Fortran - even Pascal is struggeling. I don't think Cobol is a problem. There is simply too much legacy code and if I remember correct, there is a lot of tools which generate cobol code. Cobol is not very visible outside its user community. It is a fate it shares with fortran. It does not mean that the language is dead. C++ is definitely a worry. Especially since it is a language with a tradition of change. Greetings,
